A Float Worth Its Weight

A&W bulked up its annual National Root Beer Float Day promotion for 2024 with a nationwide challenge to prepare float fans for one of fast food’s heaviest drinks.

We then asked customers to show off their “Float Flex”—that is, flaunt their new physiques with their best muscle-flexing pose—at any participating U.S. A&W location on August 6 for a free, small Root Beer Float.

The campaign logo balances indulgence with energy. Blending the nostalgic, creamy feel of a classic root beer float—rich browns, foamy textures—with the bold, bulging elements of muscles and fitness with subtle carbonation.

A&W Restaurants’ #NationalRootBeerFloatDay campaign was designed to match its 3.5 lb scale—turning up the volume across social with bold, high-impact creative, along with a PR box sent out to influencers, that got America buzzing about what might just be the heaviest drink in fast food. A true flex. 💪
